We have been practising very hard at school for the Year One Christmas Play - A Soldier's Story. I was a soldier, and Mummy was very pleased as my costume was a school jumper and some black trousers! I had a line to say as well "the shepherds made their way to Bethlehem Town".
We did two performances. The dress rehersal was on Friday afternoon last week and Mummy, Nanny W, Lisa, Marie, Abbie and Charlie came. Everyone really enjoyed it - the only shame was that lots of people in my class were poorly. There are usually 28 people in Hedgehog class, and on Friday there were only 17! Mrs Francis said she has never known so many people off at the same time!
We did our evening performance on monday. Daddy, Nanny P and Grandad came to watch. They said it was brilliant. In both shows I said my line really loudly and clearly and Mummuy and Daddy were very proud of me!

Me and my nephew
Abbie's Birthday
It was Abbie's second birthday a couple of weeks ago. We were supposed to go round to her party after I had finished Club Energy, but I wasn't feeling very well so Mummy came to collect me at 3.15 instead. Mrs Francis said Mummy was very lucky as I had just been sick (which is very unlike me!). I came home and had some calpol and felt a bit better so Mummy said we could go to Abbie's party for a little while.
When we got there everyone was very excited and Abbie liked opening her presents (she loved her huge Peppa Pig!). We had a party tea (although I didn't eat very much as I was still feeling a bit sick!) and played Pass the Parcel, which I won. (It was 4 pots of play dough). Me, Abbie and Charlie had great fun playing on Lisa's old sofa!
We then came home and got ready for bed. I felt a bit better the next day but still had to have the day off school as I wasn't right!

Putting up the Christmas Decorations
The day after Daddy's birthday, we decided to put our decorations up. (Mummy knew it was very early but it was the only free weekend we had to do them!).
We had loads of stuff to bring down from the loft room and we had to unpack all the boxes to remind ourselves what we had. Once we had the tree up it was great fun putting all the decorations on it. Sam helped (although I think he took off more than he put on!) Once the tree was finished Daddy lifted me up and I put the angel on top.
Our lounge looks lovely and christmassy now!

Daddy's Birthday
A couple of weeks ago it was Daddy's birthday. As it was on a Saturday, Daddy was lucky enough to have football, and as an extra treat he didn't have to take me with him as Mummy had arranged for us to play with James and Lucy.
When we got back from Bracknell, Lisa, Danny, Abbie, Marie, Charlie, Alfie, Hannah and Tom came round. We had a great time playing and when Daddy came back with Nanny we had a delicious chinese takeaway. After some more playing everyone went home and I went to bed. Hope Daddy had as much fun as I did!

I am a Free Reader!
Two weeks ago I finished all the reading books in the Reading Scheme at school. Level's one to nine were lots of different stories based on Duck Green School and the children who went there. Level 10 was 6 non fiction books, about making decorations, new year celebrations, fireworks and so on. These were okay but Mummy enjoyed the story ones better!
On Thursday (book change day) when I had finished all the Level 10 books, I went to see Mrs Eagle as I was the first one in my class to be a Free Reader. I got a Head Teacher's award sticker and was put in the Happy Book!
So, every thursday I get to chose my own reading book from the library. So far I have picked one about a zoo (easy), a Robin Hood one (hard - Mummy said the story for a bit too old for me) and one about Rats (just right!). I really like reading my own books now!
I am Batman!
A couple of weeks ago we went into Farnborough on Saturday morning. In Queensmead centre they had a lady painting faces for free, for Christmas. When it was my turn I chose to be Batman. I think the lady did a really good job and Mummy was pleased as there wasn't too much make up to take off!
I think Father Christmas got a bit of a surprise when we went to visit him at the garden centre that afternoon with Sam, Maddie and Charlie!

Another friend to tea!
Now that Mummy has got the hang of this "having a friend to tea" business, Elliott came to tea last week. We had a great time. We played on the DS, out in the garden and with some of my toys. After tea (we had pizza) when it was dark, Daddy took us out in the garden to have some sparklers we had left over from Fireworks night. We then came in and had an ice lolly and played spys (hence the dark glasses!). I love having friends to tea! I am going to Elliott's house tomorrow for tea and I am very excited!
Halloween part 3: Trick or treating!
When Charlie and Abbie came round we had great fun going trick or treating. We all took our buckets and looked for houses decorated with halloween things to knock on. We knocked on Eve's door opposite and she gave us some little bars of chocolate. After that it appeared that no one else had entered into the spirit of Halloween so we came home! After a group photo I went with Lisa and Marie to their mum's house for a party and to trick or treat in Aldershot. Daddy picked me up at 8pm and I was tired but still very excited!

Crazy dressing up!
Last Sunday, we were feeling a bit wild in the afternoon, so Sam and I dressed up! I had trouble deciding what I wanted to be, so I just picked some clothes and put them on!
More muffins!
Following on from Mummy's pancakes, we then went on to bake some muffins to take into Daddy's work. We made chocolate fudge ones, and mini jam doughnut ones with cinnamon on top. We had lots of fun baking them, Mummy let me weigh out the ingredients. However there was stacks of washing up to do afterwards! My favourite ones were the chocolate ones, they were yummy!

My new PJ's!
On Saturday, me and Mummy spent a bit of time on our own (for a change!). We drove into town and firstly went to change my library books. (Since I am going to be a free reader soon, I have only got 3 more school books to go. The books I have got left are all non fictions ones, and are only 16 pages long, so I get bored of them very quickly. So Mummy has been getting me some "proper" books from the library so I can practice being a free reader now!). After the library we had a quick look round the "outside" shops and I chose some really groovy pyjamas. We went to McDonalds for lunch (where I had my usual happy meal with chicken nuggets and banana milkshake) and then to Woolworths where I chose some cool Spiderman trainers that flash when you walk. After a quick trip to Morrisons (to buy our cooking ingredients for tomorrow) we went home and I played with Abbie and Charlie.
I really love my new pyjamas, they are very warm. I am not sure why Daddy doesn't like them though!
My Mummy's birthday!
On Thursday, it was my Mummy's 34th Birthday! I had great fun helping Daddy wrap up all her presents. I bought her some really groovy bed socks, pink ones and black and pink spotty ones! Nanny and Grandad came round and bought a birthday cake which I carried in with the candles burning!
Before Mummy went out for a meal in the evening (with Daddy) we had a photo together!

Book Week!
We have just had a very busy week at school. It was Book Week, based on The Great Outdoors! Mrs Francis sent home a letter outlining what we needed to bring in for the week, it certainly kept Mummy busy! Monday was wellies, waterproof coat and theatre money. Tuesday we watched the theatre show (which was about healthy eating) and then my group had to take in a blue fruit (Mummy decided on plums as they were a bit more exciting than blueberries!) to make a fruit salad. It was delicious! Wednesday was all about birds and we had to take in photos of birds that had visited our garden. Luckily, Daddy is always watching the birds in our garden and taking their photos, so that was easy. We had a talk from the local RSPB as well! Thursday was all about leaves so we had to take in a collection of leaves and know which tree they were from. Friday was the easiest day - we had a Mufti Day (so we needed to take in £1!) where we had to wear green and brown. Also we needed to take in a leaf we had made with a photo of ourselves on it in 'the great outdoors'!. I had a picture of me on my bike. The local Wildlife Trust came in and gave us a talk.
Wow - what a busy and very fun week!

Riding my bike (again!)
At the weekend Mummy and Daddy took me to practise riding my two wheeler. We went on the army land between Fleet and Aldershot. Sam and Maddie sat in their buggy and watched whilst I got to work!
It took a while (and I still need a bit of a hand to start off) but I finally managed it! I only fell off a couple of times. Aren't I clever!!!

Baking cakes!
I was lucky enough to have two Inset days this week on Monday and Tuesday. As usual Mummy likes to keep me busy so that I don't spend all day watching TV! On Monday Mummy took us all to babygym (which I thought was very brave of her, on her own with all 3 of us!!) and then in the afternoon we had Matthew and Oliver round to play.
On Tuesday after practising on my bike, Mummy and I did a spot of baking! We made Thomas the Tank Engine cakes. I enjoyed icing them, but after I had finished I discovered that I didn't actually like the taste of the red jelly icing so I have only eaten one of the cakes! Good job Daddy likes them as he has been taking them to work to eat!
Riding my bike!
A lot of my friends have learnt how to ride a two-wheeler (including Eve across the road and Alex and Katie at school!). So on Tuesday, when I had an Inset day at school Mummy and me went out the front to practice on my bike. Mummy held the seat and all I had to concentrate on was pedalling and steering. I think Mummy got a bit frustrated since I kept pedalling backwards instead of forwards and I kept forgetting to look where I was going! So, I think a bit more practice is needed before I can ride a two-wheeler!

Another friend to tea!
On Tuesday I had a friend for tea. My friend Matthew came home from school with us and we were able to watch TV, play on the computer and Nintendo, and play with my toys. After we had sausage, mash and beans for our tea (and an Fab lolly for pudding) me and Matthew took lots of photos with my digital camera!
Matthew's mummy was a little bit late collecting him. It turns out she had left our address in Matthew's book bag (which of course was at our house!). She knew which estate we lived in so she drove around looking for a similar car to ours and knocked on a few doors before she found us!
My big brother Michael!
Feeding the ducks
Daddy had to work last weekend and Mummy likes to keep us busy whilst he is working! So, she arranged for us to go for a walk around Hawley Lake with her friend Janet. After meeting at Janet's house we walked into Hawley Woods (picking some chestnuts on the way!).
Since we went quite early in the morning (it was 10.30am ish!) the ducks were still really hungry. Luckily we took lots of bread and I enjoyed throwing it in to them! Sam however prefered eating it! After using up all our bread, we went for a walk around the lake. I ran most of the way whilst Mummy and Janet chatted.
We didn't make it all the way around the lake as we ran out of time (Sam needed his lunch!) but Mummy said we walked a good few miles! No wonder I fell straight to sleep that night!Playing with my brother!
Ever since Sam was born I have been waiting for him to be big enough for me to play with. At the weekend we were really busy building a village with all our Fisher Price Little People. I built a really good town, complete with park and Zoo. However, Sam proved to be very destructive and liked crawling over everything and breaking things up rather than actually playing with me. I hope he soon grows out of this!!!

History Week
During my first full week in Year One, we had a History week. We learnt all about the Great Fire of London (I have enjoyed teaching Mummy all about this!). We also had to dress up as a character from the past. Mummy and Daddy spent a long time thinking about what I could dress up as and after a visit to Woolworths, decided on Captain Blackbeard!
I learnt that Captain Blackbeard was a robber that stole things off ships in America a long time ago. (In my news book I put that I died 100 years ago but I think it was nearer 300 years ago!)

My friend Isobel!
During the summer holidays I had my friend Isobel round to play. (I had been to her house to tea and Mummy returned the favour during August - even though she was feeling poorly that day).
I played really nicely with Isobel (especially as she is a bit of a Tom Boy!). We were really busy and did some colouring and lots of dressing up! I keep squeezing into my Power Ranger outfit even though it is miles too small for me! Isobel liked dressing up as Jake from the Tweenies!
We also got the paddling pool out even though it was a bit cold. We didn't mind that!!!

A Weekend Visitor!
Now that I am in Hedgehog Class we have to do much more work and writing then when I was in Rabbit. We do get to do some fun things as well though!
Last Friday Mrs Francis chose me to take "Spike" - our class's cuddly hedgehog home for the weekend. We got a big plastic folder with Spike in, and also a "news book" to complete (and last year's news book to show you how to do it!). Basically we had to show Spike a good time and take photographs of what we did and write about it!
On Saturday, we took Spike to see AFC Wimbledon. He enjoyed meeting Hayden the Womble and he liked cheering the goals, especially as we won!
On Sunday, Daddy helped me to make a bird box to put in our tree. Spike thought he was going to live there!
On Sunday afternoon I had to write up Spike's visit in the News Book. Mummy was very pleased with my neat writing!
I was very sad on Monday morning when I had to take Spike back to school, but I think he enjoyed his weekend with us!

Holiday at Haven!
Last weekend before I went back to school, we had a little holiday. Mummy, daddy, Sam, Maddie, Lisa, Abbie, Marie, Charlie and I went to stay in a Haven caravan in Pagham, near Chichester.
We all went to Littlehampton for the morning and enjoyed playing on the amusements. Lisa was really good at the claw machines and she won a huge Dora and a bumble bee. I wanted a cuddly Sonic but no one could win one of those!
The holiday park had two lovely swimming pools, one inside and one outside, which we used lots (although we only had nice weather on one of the days so we only used the outdoor one once!)
In the evening we went to the Clubhouse where we watched shows and joined in the animal parade. I really liked Bradley and Rory.
It was great fun in our caravan, which had three bedrooms (which was just as well as there were loads of us!). It was great fun eating all my meals with Sam, Abbie and Charlie.
Because there was so many of us, we did tend to wake up quite early in the morning. Sam was the first to wake up, usually around 5.30am, but I think this is because he didn't like the travel cot he was sleeping in! Then this would wake up me,Charlie and Abbie and we all enjoyed having biscuits and milk before breakfast.

All too soon we had to come home, we were all really sad to come home again and can't wait to go back again soon.
